  •  “Friends of ours threw out the idea to rent a boat with a captain and chef.  I had no clue this business existed! I’m relatively new to traveling to the Caribbean – when we went for New Year’s Eve it was only our third trip. We are a middle class/working family, and  growing up our families never vacationed, so this is something we insisted on for our family. To rent a boat is completely affordable/ doable, and an especially attractive option for families who also have kids.  I would not have considered this if my friend hadn’t pushed it in front of me.”
  • “It doesn’t get any more amazing than Cow Wreck Beach, game over, mic drop…”
  • “I have to manage my business, clients and people for a living. The last thing I want to do on vacation is manage. I want to be managed. When you use a chef/captain charter they know the best spots to go to and they take you there. Seriously – it was by far our most favorite vacation. There is nothing like sipping a glass of wine when the sun is setting, dinner is being cooked and you listen to the wind/water/peace of the islands.”

Captain Jon and first mate/chef Kait are a practiced yacht crew couple, that have the knowledge, experience and passion to run 50ft to 100ft luxury yachts a.k.a. Pocket Super Yachts (sail or power).  Captain Jon’s, skills encompass being a good navigator, boat handler, people’s person, communicator, water sports instructor, safety officer, sailing instructor,  and more…  Kait, whom Jon refers to as “the boss” is first mate, stewardess and chef! Kait truly enjoys cooking and entertaining the guests on board, as well as helping out on deck wherever needed. She’s a skilled hostess who provides a luxury experience without the fuss. Her coastal  Maine roots are reflected in her menus. She is known for her innovative twist on the favorite recipes she grew up enjoying.

They have the energy to get up before the guests to chamois the deck, serve breakfast, prepare the water toys, take the guests snorkeling, check the engine, raise the anchor, hoist the main, plot a course, drive the boat, (or even assist the guests while they are helming), drop anchor, shake cocktails, take the kids on the dingy or knee or wakeboard, set the dinner table, unblock the toilet, serve dinner, lower the ensign, do the dishes, wait for the guests to go to bed and finally sleep with one eye open and repeat the following day.

Previously, Captain Jon and First Mate/Chef Kait had the chance to work aboard  Virgin Islands based 57-foot and 62-foot Lagoon Catamarans —”Pride” and “Split Second” —each with 4 queen staterooms with en-suite heads and showers.

I am a man of few words. Perfect comes to mind. There are many ways to see the BVI, but none better than on your own yacht (ok, for a week), at your own pace, while bringing your villa with you to each new destination. I am a captain of my own vessels, and it never even occurred to me to take the wheel. This, simply is a boaters REAL vacation. The bucket list just got shorter. Thank you Jon and Kait for helping make that happen. If you are reading this and trying to decide, look no further. You have found it. — Capt. Cliff, Tampa Bay, FL.

We just returned from spending 5 days on The Pride with Kait and Jon. We had 8 family members on board and there was plenty of room. Jon was knowledgeable about the BVI and we always felt safe with him sailing throughout the islands. The snorkeling was fantastic. The food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the “Dingy Fling” . We cannot wait to do it again next spring break. Thanks Kait and John for a wonderful trip. — Wheeler’s, Virginia Beach, VA

We just returned from an amazing trip on the Pride. We are two couples from Miami, and we were celebrating the husbands’ 50th birthdays. We have traveled extensively and this was one of our favorite trips ever. Jon & Kait are so friendly and helpful and do everything they can to make your trip relaxing and fun. We feel like we made new friends. The boat is clean and beautiful and we enjoyed the comfortable open areas. It was so relaxing just to sail along, listening to music, and drinking Kait’s drink-of-the-day. Jon took us to beautiful beaches and great snorkeling spots (the best were the Indians and Caneel Bay), and we also hiked at Bitter End. It’s impossible to list all of the wonderful things about this trip. We weren’t “boat people” before going on the Pride, but now we definitely are, and we hope to come back one day! — Suzanne

Sailing on the yacht Pride was an incredible experience and one we will never forget! This was our first sailing experience ever. The boat is spacious, the husband and wife crew exceptional. Captain Jon made every requested stop on our list happen despite occasionally difficult sailing conditions. Jon is incredibly professional and from day one gave us peace of mind while sailing on the open Caribbean waters. First mate Kait made cooking in tight spaces look easy and the meals exceeded all expectations. Ask for the blueberry pancakes!!! Our party of six agreed, Pride is safe, comfortable and very fun! If you’re looking for the trip of a lifetime, you need not look any further. Thank you Jon and Kait! — Sheehan’s, Minnesota

December 2015
Just returned from our 8 day, 7 seven night trip aboard the Yacht Pride. While we’ve spent considerable amounts of time vacationing in, and on day boating trips in the USVI/BVI, this was our first time aboard a chartered yacht. Our group had a bucket list which included celebrating New Year’s Eve on a certain island in the BVI’s, and seeing a number of islands too far to reach on a day trip. Captain Jon and First Mate Kait made sure every one of our requests were met. They went above and beyond to make sure this was an experience we won’t soon forget. The Yacht is well maintained, the accommodations handled our group of 6 and the meals prepared by Kait were just unbelievable. We would gladly recommend the boat and crew to anyone looking for a new experience in the Caribbean. We cannot wait to sail again with them. — Diva Maple Grove, Minnesota
